Privacy Policy

This page explains what information Focus Read collects, how it's used, and how you can control it. Focus Read is currently a free beta product.

What we collect

• Account info: your e-mail address, used to sign you in and to contact you about your account.
• Your content: the PDF files you upload, their file names and folders, and any notes you write.
• Basic usage data: things like how many PDFs you've stored, used only to show your own usage inside the app.

Where it's stored

Your account and file details are stored with Firebase (Google Cloud). The PDF files themselves are stored with Supabase. Both are reputable infrastructure providers — we don't run our own servers.

Your PDFs, notes and account are private to you. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with other Focus Read users or with advertisers.

AI features

If you use the AI Assistant (Summarize, Quiz, Ask), the relevant portion of that PDF's text is sent to our AI provider (Groq) solely to generate that one response. This only happens when you actively use that feature — it does not happen automatically for every PDF you upload.

The offline Chat with PDF feature does not use any external AI — it works entirely from the PDF's own text.

Local storage

We use your browser's local storage only to remember small preferences — your chosen language and light/dark mode. This is not used for tracking or advertising.

Your rights and choices

• You can delete individual PDFs at any time from your library.
• You can permanently delete your entire account and all associated data from Account → Delete account.
• You can request a copy of your data, or ask us any question about this policy, by contacting us (see below).

KVKK (Turkish Data Protection Law) notice

This section applies to users based in Turkey, as required by the Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 6698 ("KVKK"). The data controller ("veri sorumlusu") for Focus Read can be reached at fd.focusread@gmail.com for anything in this section.

• Purpose of processing: your e-mail address, uploaded documents, and notes are processed solely to create your account, provide the reading/notes/AI features described above, and respond to support requests.
• Legal basis: processing is based on the necessity of performing our contract with you (providing the service you signed up for) and, for the AI Assistant specifically, on your explicit action of choosing to use that feature each time.
• Storage location: your data is hosted by our infrastructure providers (Google Firebase and Supabase), whose servers may be located outside Turkey. By using Focus Read, you acknowledge this transfer, which is limited to what's needed to operate the service described in this policy.
• Your KVKK rights (Article 11): you can request confirmation of whether we process your data, request access to it, request correction or deletion, and object to processing — by contacting us at the e-mail address above.

Children's privacy

Focus Read is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do.
